No, not a goal.. Het Oudhollansch Acid Feest - haha more then a month ago!
Phortunately 3 voor 12 hosts a mix from Bam Bam from this year. Not many surprises of course - that’s how its supposed to be; stuff like House of Venus, Ten City, NRG Flash and a nice version of Kaw Lig hadn’t heard before. Maybe I will go again in 2015 or so - some traditions are here to stay ![]()
I was watching this match a couple of days ago but wasn’t feeling it, was pissed off by a number of things including public transport, so not long after the first Argentina goal I had had it with the match, turned on my decks and recorded this hardcore mix in about an hour. It’s not half bad watching football this way. Included are records by some usual suspects and some artists who’ve since chosen a completely different path with their music: a.o. Mike Dred, Zekt, DJ Rob, Neophyte, DJ Repete and Jochem Paap.
This weekend I finally got my hands on Careful Digit; the full length album by Eric Nouhan and Dimitri. It took no less then 16 years for this album to be released… All props for Marnix from Loveland for the energy he has put into getting this done.
Go Magazine’s review talks a bit on how nostalgic all this is and how old-fashioned the production sounds. I think it is actually a masterpiece. Almost a genre on its own with unforgettable tracks like Given Flower’s “4 U” that grabs you by the throat and drags you into a whirlwind of ever faster and faster and faster melodic beats. The complete circus of Alice D. in Wonderland’s “Time Problem”; subtle tinklebell sounds that end up in a banging techno track.
Admittedly not everything is that good, but it is great to finally have a nice and good sounding overview of Nouhan’s work.
After watching 20 minutes of the friendly match bewteen England and Hungary I got so bored I decided to do some mixing instead and keep the game on in the background. Missed two goals, but got a nice result. Some house, some italo, some synthesiser madness, Master C & J, Patrick Cowley, Legowelt, Parallax Corporation, Sweet Exorcist, full tracklist up soon.
Also started a techno mix the day before, with Claude Young and Mark Broom. Unfortunately things got a bit out of hand as soon as I put I-F on . . . what followed included Neophyte, Buzz Fuzz, X-103 and Reanimator a.o.
