A while ago I took part in the discogs tournament. Since the voting just finished, I thought I’d share the mix on the Acidnet. I was in group X, the group where the idea was to mix as many styles as possible (at least I did a pretty good job at that). My interpretation of that was to mix a host of tracks that seem unrelated, but which taken together all sound extremely lively and dynamic. It’s a slightly extended version of the actual mix I submitted on discogs, I couldn’t finish my original idea in time because of technical problems with my mixer.

There are a number of releases coming out that are very much acid:

• DK7 - WhiteShadow / Slipstream (Output)
• Anthing on RZ Records (recently: Back to the warehouse E.P)
• Stuff on Rephlex (808 State’s Prebuild)

All that, and finding the Evil Acid Baron Video make 2004 a good acid year.

Update:

Some of the house and acid stuff I have managed to get my hands on this year in one mix. Not everything is from this year of course but quite a lot. Most of it has been released long time ago, but as Il-Disco always says: “Why play new records when there are old records to play?”

Analord 10 (AFX stuff) available now on Rephlex. It all looks great and probably sounds great, but I have the feeling this is a bit about money.

Finally, check out the new Plastique de Reve: Voodoo Kit. Nice acid lines again and plain crazy stuff (but in a nice way).

Helping to prepare Murw with his VJ-set tmrw in de Desmet, we played the highly homnoured webradio from Cybernetic Broadcasting System. Some weird electronic music passed, like NIK RAICEVIC & NIK PASCAL. While looking for these strangers I found a website with all these obscure electronic Artists from the past: Encyclopedia of Electronic Music. Check it out for looking for the more obscure (but not particular IDM )
