The Brothers’ rough tough and rollin junglemixes can be found on their site but also for downloading via the wellknown wayzzzz… (maybe somebody can give a hint in the comments…;) )
Check die shizz out if you want some rollin’ and incredible wicked oldschool/ragga and newschool junglist stuff from the poldah deejaahyz and remember to watch your steps!

Visited CourtHouse around the corner to score some vinyl. As always a nice visit with the guys over there being in an extremely good mood. One nice gem that Il Disco pointed me to was the acid burner from Lockstep.

They also run a 24/7 radio show that you might find entertaining.

I was thinking about a nice logo or patron for AcidNet. Suddenly I remembered Archie the Man of Steel from old comic books that my grandmother had lying around when we were young.

Shortly, Archie is a robot from the 50’s / 60’s, with superb qualities such as incredible strength, telescopic arms, very wise creators and is always working for the good cause. The ideal AcidNet logo if you ask me.

An extensive search on the Internet made me see this in a whole new light.

Archie is currently known as Acid Robot Archie. Check out Google youself to find out the same as I did if you don’t believe it. See also the image.

Now there is no discussion possible. Who better can be the guardian angel for AcidNet? Suggestions are welcome in the comments, but this is hard to beat.

Today I was visiting The Hague - well known electro city and murder capital of NL - for some work-related business. Of course I took the opportunity to visit LaLaLand, a second hand record shop.

After looking around a bit I discovered the “new” records section with Dance/Techno and Electro. And to my great surpise there was a silver sleeve with a small white sticker saying “Acid Planet”. What!! I thought, could this be possible. Finally I end up in the city of the Unit Moebius and immediately I find something. Turned out the salesman of the shop had a box behind the counter for a long time he discovered when cleaning up the place and I bought the last record from that box. So another nice addition to the crates of acid. This is it on discogs, number 006.

BTW - The old Acid Planet releases are being re-issued as CD’s. MZR got one in his hands already. Acid Planet 001.

I also bought some old AFX stuff, a triple vinyl containing Joyrex J4, Joyrex J5, and Joyrex J9. Some people complain it is not the original, I don’t care. I am happy enough with the music.

Last thing, couldn’t resist buying some more Legowelt: Klaus Kinski EP . Nice as usual.

Next to the fact that Massive Records has a nice collection of vinyl, including Drop Bass Network, they also have a lot tracks online that you can stream.

Includes lots of electro and alternative electronic music.

Het is alweer een tijdje geleden dat Deel I verscheen, maar dan nu het vervolg.

Het probleem van Seneca: Hij houdt zich niet aan de regels die Epictetus zo mooi heeft opgeschreven. Epictetus zegt dat het erom gaat dat je als filosoof niet moet laten zien wat je geleerd hebt door erover te praten, maar door te laten zien in daden wat je jezelf hebt eigen gemaakt. Wat Seneca in dit boek doet is ons als lezer een lesje leren (via de oren van zijn broer), en dat terwijl we weten wat voor ontzettend corrupt en overdadig leven Seneca leefde.

Het zou kunnen dat Epcitetus wat meer neigt naar de oude Stoïcijnen en Seneca een wat moderner (en gematigder) variant aanhangt. De oude Stoïcijnse leer was niet echt practisch voor de Romeinse burgers.

Helemaal vervelend is het deel van het boek waarin hij te keer gaat over dat zijn gedrag niet lijkt op wat hij beweert, maar dat de buitenwacht dat verkeerd ziet.

Positief is dat het eerste deel van het boek wel goed bruikbaar is als inleiding in de leer van de latere Stoïcijnen . De redenering over de deugd en het genot dat daaruit volgt is best mooi gevonden. Het genot volgt volgens Seneca namelijk vanzelf vanuit de deugd, maar niet andersom. Dus, het nastreven van genot leidt niet tot deugd. Dat noemen we namelijk Epicurisme . Hij bevindt zich aan het eind van de hele redenering alleen een beetje in een lastige situatie, omdat hij begon mer te beweren dat genot erg belangrijk is.

Vreemd voor iemand die van origine retorica heeft gestudeerd.

Conclusie: Lees dit boek ter lering ende vermaack. De inleiding over het leven van Seneca is interessant in het licht van wat hij verder te melden heeft en je steekt wel iets op van de leer der Stoïcijnen.
